Handmade ceramics are an amazing way to bring a unique, artisan touch to your accessory game, and Etsy is one of my favorite places to discover small studios around the world. Whether you want to refresh your “shelfies” or update your coffee table decor, a handmade bowl or vase can be the perfect way to add something unique that levels up the whole vignette. There are so many ceramicists on Etsy creating intricate hand-painted pieces or scultpural statements – although the search can sometimes be overwhelming! In this lakeside home in Austin, a small renovation project turned into a completely new build when rot was found in the walls. The owners reimagined their abode with FAB Architecture and designer Fern Santini, inspired by a grownup version of summer camp. With a mix of Texas limestone, glazed-glass walls, and a punchy color palette, the home encapsulates a casual, playful retreat full of entertaining opportunities. The hall above combines the entryway, music alcove, and multiple seating and dining arrangements, and opens up the home to the landscape and lake views. After Atlanta interior designer Sherry Hart convinced her recently divorced friend and client to buy in the new Manchester development in Buckhead (my new neighborhood!), she brought a chic black-and-white palette to the intown home. Hart brought a few key pops of color to her signature layers of neutral textures, creating a layered fresh start for her client. Things have really started changing in the Terrace Drive project, which is my latest design makeover for my boyfriend Murphy. I’m tackling this small-space basement apartment, which is full of funky nooks and crannies, to make it feel like a cozy home. To start out, I reimagined the color palette of the apartment with Clare paint, using a fresh white and some saturated hues to carve out distinctive spaces and make it feel larger. I used Clare’s best-selling Whipped warm white paint, the Current Mood dark green, and a coral pink called Pop for a fun nook. See how the colors turned out in here (and why the green made the bedroom feel SO much bigger) below!
